Abyei son and football coach of Zalan FC won the Lakes State local football league tournament on Monday 17th April 2023 after defeating Gonzaka 3-0.
Mawien Deng Ajing best known by his nickname Manawa is a professional football manager who holds a license (B) from Khartoum sports academy in 2017.
He won the league with 56 points in 22 matches winning 18 games and drawing two games. Coach Manawa described the league in Lakes State as a tough one.
Lakes State Local Football League is comprised of 12 teams. In November last year, Zalan represented South Sudan in the African Champions League and lost its two matches against Young Africans FC of Tanzania 6-0.
Mr. Manawa began his coaching career with Mustagbal FC Al Gadarif, Sudan, Daraja, and Salam FCs in Wau, and Abyei City FC in Abyei.
He is the former assistant coach of the South Sudan national football team for men “Bright Stars”.
Coach Manawa was contracted for one year which will expire by May this year with a possibility of extending the contract for another one year.
