Youths in Abyei Special Administrative Area (ASAA) are urging the labor office and non-governmental organizations to avail job opportunities for them.
Mioriik Michar a young man who passed the South Sudan Secondary School Certificate in 2021 said he can’t pursue his education due to financial constraints. He added that he had joined many courses such as computer training for three months and catering and hospitality but still he can’t find a job, stating that youths are the future of the area.
On his part, Garang Mithiang Arop claimed that 90% of youths are unemployed and that situation is not ideal. He suggested giving job opportunities to youths at least to facilitate and build their future dreams.
Meanwhile, the director of the labor office, Mr. Mayol Chanagth attributed the situation to a few jobs at humanitarian agencies compared to many people looking for employment. He encourages youths to take vacancies available in government institutions.
