The Education Department in Abyei Special Administrative Area (ASAA) said it has hired 15 foreign teachers to join secondary schools in the region.
This was disclosed in a press statement by Acting Director General, Mr. Malual Achueng to Abyei FM on Tuesday 26th March.
He added that 15 nationals from Uganda were successfully recruited after applying for jobs online announced recently.
The teachers are specialized in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English, and Literature subjects.
The government official expects teachers to arrive this month to start work after the resumption of teaching next April.
Schools across South Sudan and Abyei were closed by a joint decision made by the Ministry of General Education and Instruction and the Ministry of Health due to the heatwave that is hitting the country.
Mr. Achueng hints that job opportunities for foreigners in secondary schools and nationals at primary schools are still open.
New jobs were announced in a bid to improve performance and standard of education at primary and secondary levels.
