The Department of Agriculture, Forestry, Livestock and Fisheries in the Abyei Special Administrative Area urged youth to employ their abilities in Agriculture in order to fight hunger this year.
Addressing the congregation at Prayer for Peace Campaign on Saturday, the acting Head of the Agriculture Department Hon. Aluel Acuil Kiir, said the time was ripped for Agriculture, calling on the youth to engage in agriculture and small businesses in order to improve living conditions.
Hon. Aluel added that unity among youth can push Abyei to prosperity, and appealed to the youth to work together for peace and strengthen social cohesion.
For his part, Mr. Alor Ring Lual, a young man in his twenties displaced from the village of Wunpeth, said that he had left Agriculture since the outbreak of the conflict between Ngok and Twic. He added that the present insecure situation is the biggest challenge.
Ring urged the government and organizations to support them with seeds, pointing out that he was ready to return to Agriculture if seeds were provided.
