Three journalists from the Abyei Journalists Association, including the Abyei Information and Radio Service (AIRS) senior female journalist Rose Monytoch Dau, received a training program on basic media skills at Radio Radio station in capital in Juba.
The week-long training concluded on Tuesday, with support from the Public Relations and Information Office of the United Nations Interim Security for Abyei (UNISFA).
The chairperson Abyei Journalists Association Mr. Miyen Ayuong Ajuong, said that the training aimed to provide local journalists with basic knowledge of radio presenting and news editing skills. He added that the association will continue to cooperate with the UNISFA to train and empower local journalists in order to combat rumors and reject hate speech in society.
For his part, one of the journalists who participated in the training Mr. Abyei Makuac Chol, said in a statement to Abyei FM on Wednesday, that he received new skills that will help him in his journalistic career, such as sound editing, photography and video shooting, and he described the workshop as “good and useful”.
The journalists who received the training are: Rose Monytoch Dau, Abyei Makuac Chol and Buk Dau Maguek.
