The Health Department in Abyei Special Administrative Area reported a new suspected case of yellow fever in Abyei referral hospital this week. This came in a statement by the Health Surveillance Officer in the Abyei Health Department to Abyei FM on Thursday 6th June 2024.
Mr. Kon Adok said that the patient with a suspected case of yellow fever is a 23-year-old young man who came to Abyei Town from the Amiet area in Ameth Aguok County after he showed symptoms of yellow fever, such as high fever, yellowing of the skin and eyes which prompted the conduct of preliminary examinations.
Adok added that they sent a sample to the National Ministry of Health to confirm the case, noting that the result will be sent back within the coming days.
The Health Department had suspected a case of yellow fever at the end of last May, but the result was found to be negative at the beginning of this month.
