The health authorities in the Abyei Special Administrative Area (ASAA) said that Abyei Civil Hospital and primary health care centers receive about 10 to 15 cases of red-eye disease daily.
The emergency health officer in Abyei, Mr. Kon Adok, confirmed the occurrence of many cases of red eye disease, especially among students and pupils, noting that the disease continues to spread among citizens daily.
Adok renewed his appeal to citizens to observe personal hygiene and wash hands regularly with soap and water to prevent disease.
Red eye disease or conjunctivitis is usually transmitted through direct contact with an infected person, or contact with contaminated objects, and through respiratory droplets resulting from coughing or sneezing.
