The government of Warrap State has said that communal conflicts are derailing development in the state.
The State Minister of Information and a spokesperson said sectional fighting within the state and neighboring prevented the delivery of health and education services and discouraged humanitarian organizations, trade, and investment companies.
Hon. William Wol Mayom said that the government is busy in resolving those conflicts, providing fuel and logistics to security forces which are working to prevent further escalation.
He pleaded with the state’s communities to come together and shun fighting, for stability, development, and poverty eradication.
On his part, the coordinator of greater Tonj in Kuajok, Joseph Achuil said that the Luanjang community of Tonj welcomed the call for peace and peaceful co-existence for the development and provision of services to citizens.
Mr. Achuil said that the chairperson of the Luanjang community Mr. Matheo Mathiang is in Juba for peace consultations. Abyei FM contacted the Luanjang chief in Tonj East County, but the call was not successful.
Warrap State witnessed internal and external communal conflicts with communities in neighboring states such as Western Bhar El Gazal, Lakes, Unity, and Abyei Special Administrative Area.
