Vietnamese engineering contingent in the United Nations Interim Security Mission for Abyei (UNISFA) donated medicines and food aid to the Abyei Civil Hospital.
The hospital’s administrative director, Mr. Ajing Akonon, said in a statement to (Abyei FM) on Monday that the aid included antibiotics and diarrhea medicines, in addition to some other materials that will be distributed to patients in the hospital.
For his part, the pharmacist at Abyei Hospital, Ayiik Adol, said that the pharmacy department also received medicines for infections and coughs, as well as pain and wound relievers, noting that the hospital was missing those medicines.
Adol stated that the hospital suffers from a severe shortage of malaria and typhoid medicines.
Meanwhile, Ayen Chol said that she received a carton of biscuits and clothes from UNISFA.
She thanked the mission and the government for the assistance.
It is worth noting that this is the second donation by a Vietnamese contingent to Abyei Civil Hospital this year.
