The Women’s Union Council Chairperson in the Abyei Special Administrative Area (ASAA) appealed to the government and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) working in the region to provide job opportunities for young people.
This came during the commemoration of the International Youth Day celebration in Abyei, on Saturday, August 17th, 2024.
Ms. Nyandeng Dut Piot appealed to the Abyei government and international and local organizations to provide job opportunities for young people to reduce the unemployment rate among young people in Abyei.
She added that providing job opportunities for young people will help reduce the phenomenon of youth abuse of drugs and alcohol in the region.
For his part, the Chairperson of Abyei Youth Union Mr. Deng Aguer Deng, called on the Department of Information, Culture, Youth and Sports and its partners to work to build the capabilities of young people in various fields, including leadership, development, and sustainable peace for a better future.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Department of Information, Culture, Youth and Sports, and the official Spokesperson for the Abyei Area government, Hon. Bulis Koch Aguar, said that his administration will work with partners to obtain job opportunities for young people and make youth projects successful, noting that young people represent the future.
