On Friday 4th October 2024, the Abyei Municipality destroyed about 1,344 cartons of expired imported liquor and 487 cartons of drinking water, food flour, and other materials.
The Director of Health in Abyei Municipality, Mr. Deng Miyen, said in a statement to (Abyei FM) on Friday that the municipality last week carried out a campaign for shops to inspect food commodities.
Miyen explained that they found expired commodities such as flour, juices, drinking water, liquor, and other things during the campaign.
He added that they warned merchants against repeating the phenomenon again, saying that merchants must report expired items to preserve the health of citizens in Abyei.
The health official stated that the extermination process will continue until all the materials confiscated from the merchants got expired, calling on citizens to cooperate and report expired materials.
The Abyei Municipality carried out a campaign for expired commodities in Abyei this week.
