The community police in Abyei Special Administrative Area (ASAA) is investigating the killing of one of its officers in Abyei town.
The director general of the community police spoke to Abyei FM on Monday 11th November.
Gen. Ring Mawien Nyikuac said they are interrogating 12 suspects regarding the killing of an officer Thursday at 8 pm while on duty in the police station.
Gen. Mawien added police arrested the 12 suspects who stormed the custody and opened fire killing the office on the spot.
“We have formed an investigation committee to probe the motives behind the trespass of the police station.
The suspects had tried to release a friend who had been detained and kept in police custody” he narrated.
It is worth mentioning that this is the fifth incident in which a police station came under attack in the Abyei area since the eruption of conflict between Ngok and Twic nearly three years ago.
The incident has been met with condemnation, outrage, tension, and division in Abyei society.
