Authorities in the Abyei Special Administrative Area said that an investigation committee formed to probe the killing of a police officer, and four young men began its work officially on Thursday last week.
Last week the four-member committee comprised of judges and attorney generals arrived in Abyei to investigate the motive behind a series of killings.
The head administrator for information and communications who doubles as the government official spokesperson Hon. Bulis Kuch Aguar, revealed that scrutiny has begun with six suspects, noting that the police are still searching for three suspects including a member of organized forces.
The incidents started in November with the killing of police Cap. Deng Alor Achuol by armed youth who wanted to release their colleague by force.
Then another group attacked the suspects in custody and killed four detainees.
The events were condemned widely but caused tension and insecurity.
