First Abyei Administrative Area Chief Administrator, Edward Lino dies

Edward Lino Wuor, the first Chief Administrator of Abyei Administrative area died in Bangalore city in India on Wednesday evening. Family sources said Lino passed on at the age of 74.

He got treated at hospital in Nairobi Kenya before he was referred to India in February this year. Lino was a South Sudanese Co-chair of Abyei Joint Oversight Committee in 2013.

Lino worked as chairman of Sudan people’s liberation movement in Abyei before he joined SPLM-IO after 2013. He contested for a position of governor of Khartoum State in 2010 general elections, but he did not win. Lino was the head of military intelligence for Sudan People’s Liberation Army before the signing of comprehensive peace agreement in 2005.
