A man was injured during an attack on a car along the road between Amiet and Abyei town on Wednesday morning.
Madhel Deng Abuaj, says a number of armed men shot at a business vehicle carrying passengers on the way to Amiet.

“I was sitting in the center of the vehicle on a carton. When we reach near the market, I saw people lying down, they started shooting at the vehicle. I put my head down thinking that I was in the center, but the bullet came in front because they wanted to shoot the driver. It came and shot me in the ankle,” Deng explains the attack.

Deng added that UNISFA’s soldiers came to where the attack occured, but could not find any of the assailants.

Despite UNISFA’s regular patrol, there have been attacks on this road since the establishment of Amiet joint market in 2016.

With this, the number of attacks on this very road recorded since February this year, has become three. Previously, one person was killed and five others were injured in a separate similar incidence in the same area.
