The Islamic Council in Abyei Administrative Area says it will give out food assistance to poor families in the area on Friday. Deng Monytuc, Secretary of Information for the Council, says the distribution will be done in both Abyei town and Agok.
The items to be given out include flour, cooking oil and sugar. He says the free food is a substitute to the group dinner Islamic Council in collaboration with Abyei Administration organize during Eid El-fetir. Deng confirmed that the annual dinner in which people eat in groups will not be there this time because of COVID-19.
Ramadhan holiday is expected to start on Saturday this week.
