The office of Public Service, Labour, and Human Resource Development in Abyei administrative Area has suspended the recruitment of workers into job vacancies with IMDAD company over fears of COVID-19 pandemic.
IMDAD, a Jordanian company is a service provider to the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA) responsible for employment of casual labourers.
According to Mayol Changath, Director of Public Service, the time in which the candidates will be given the offer is unknown. The cancellation of the recruitment process caused argument among job seekers in the area.
Close to 400 people have worked for IMDAD company as skilled and unskilled positions since its coming to Abyei in 2018 according to labor office.
