Business activities in Amiet market have declined due to insecurity fears. Some business premises were closed in Amiet market after a body of a young man was found in a forest near the market early this week.

Ahmed Hamad Abudabaka, a member of Joint Peace Committee attributes growing insecurity to suspension of their activities. He added that it has encouraged chaos in the region and calls for resumption of peace dialogue between Ngok Dinka and Misseriya to address issues affecting civilians in Abyei.

Other members of Joint Peace Committee say the situation has gone out of control because their authority is limited. Last month, another man was found dead in the forest near Amiet market. The perpetrators are unknown though some suspected them of being Misseriya armed men.
