
Health official has confirmed new cases of COVID-19 infections bringing the total to eight. Nyanwut Mayen, Secretary of COVID-19 Response Committee says two out of eight people who tested positive for the Coronavirus are UNISFA’s workers. UNISFA assures that the staff are in its special isolation point.
Nyanwut says some of those tested positive for COVID-19 have been sent to their houses for self-isolation. She added that the patients have reported 35 people who came into contact with them recently.
MSF is working to avail 48 beds for admitting COVID-19 patients in critical condition while, Health Administration in Abyei Administrative Area is preparing another isolation center in Amenhbeek hospital.
Head of health administration in Abyei Administrative Area Nyanwut Mayen, urged the public to follow health instructions to stop the spread of the Coronavirus. She also appealed to people to complete treatment in the hospital.
UNISFA has contributed an ambulance as part of Coronavirus response according to head of Abyei Health Administration.
First case of Coronavirus pandemic was confirmed in Abyei last month. In South Sudan, there are more than 1600 cases of COVID-19 with 19 deaths as of June 9th, 2020.
