Abyei Farmers advised to plant more local seeds than imported ones

Administration of Agriculture in Abyei has advised farmers not plant their all farmland with seeds from outside the area.

Chol Arithok Akuei, is the head of agriculture, animal resources, forestry, and fisheries in Abyei Administrative Area. According to Chol, successful growth and yielding of imported seeds is unpredictable as their viability in Abyei’s soil has not been tested.

The official told farmers to mix local seeds with the ones they received recently.

Responding to agriculture official, Chol Deng, a farmer in Luat-Agok village said he will plant the imported seeds that were distributed to farmers recently for demonstration.

Last month, the Administration of Agriculture distributed seeds including of sorghum to about three thousand farmers in the area.
