The Chairman of Chamber of Commerce in Agok in Abyei Area has started importation of food items from Sudan. Bagat Kur says they agreed on stocking enough food before rains get heavier.
During rainy season, there is usually shortage of supplies due to poor road conditions. One truck loaded with food items including sugar, rice and flour arrived in Agok this week. Kur confirmed that it is part of the food being imported.
Jook Michar, a mother living in Agok has described the initiative as ‘beautiful.” She recommended supplying sorghum to the markets.
Bagat requests tax collection authorities to exempt sorghum importers from taxes saying it is scarce this year.
