WFP approves distribution of food for education to school children’s families

World Food Program has approved the distribution of food ration that children use to eat at schools to their families.

The Director General of Education in Abyei Administrative Area, John Ajang Kiir told Abyei FM.

According to Kiir, ‘food for education’ as termed for both April and May will be given to families of school children starting from today.

WFP supplies schools located north of Kiir river with food while Abyei Community Action for Development (ACAD) is responsible for distribution to schools in the South. Projects Manager of ACAD has confirmed the approval but did not fix the distribution date due to logistical problem.

The schools have been closed since March sparing school meal for April and May. Food for Asset is food ration given to learning facilities with the intention of improving enrollment and performance.
