The commissioner of Rumamer County has appealed to people to keep their houses and the surrounding clean. Mayot Kuniet Mayen says home environment should be kept clean to prevent disease. He made this call during his inspection visit to Aniet market on Friday morning.

Some of the residents backed up his appeal saying cleanliness is safety. Diseases caused by poor hygiene and sanitation include cholera and diarrhea.

Bushy and wet environment is a breeding ground for mosquitoes, the vectors for malaria. Malaria is the most common disease in Abyei especially during rainy season.
