More than 50 community volunteers trained on COVID-19 awareness

53 community volunteers from Abyei Administrative Area  graduated last week after completing a fortnight training on COVID-19. The team will be teaching the community about the COVID-19, its symptoms and prevention.

Abyei Health Administration, World Health Organization and Save the Children conducted the training. 23 people are from Amiet and others are from Abyei town.

Head of health administration in Abyei, Nyanwut Mayen says the operation of the team will curb the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic. Confirmed cases of Coronavirus infections in Abyei are 15.

Two people suspected of COVID-19 died at the health facility isolation. Samples collected from them when they were still alive were taken to Juba. The head of Health Administration in Abyei Administrative Area  said their results are not released.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 infections in South Sudan are close to 2,000 including 36 deaths and 246 recoveries. The global infection with the Coronavirus has passed 10 million with more than half a million deaths.
