The acting head of health in Abyei Administrative Area says a child in Abyei died of Coronavirus on Thursday. Nyanwut Miyen Kuol says the body has been taken by COVID-19 Committee to Amiet, the home village for burial according to health guidelines.
The deceased was a son of the first COVID-19 patient in Abyei. The boy was with his mother while she was admitted to MSF hospital in Agok after she tested positive for the coronavirus in May.
Nyanwut added that people should be following instructions to fight the Coronavirus pandemic. There are 18 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Abyei Administrative Area. Two people who were suspected of having the virus also died before the results of their tests were released.
Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in South Sudan have surpassed 2000 with 38 deaths and 494 recoveries as of Thursday.
