16 new COVID-19 cases confirmed in Abyei Administrative Area

The acting head of Health Administration in Abyei Administrative Area has announced sixteen new cases of COVID-19 infections in Abyei. This is the highest number of infections ever recorded in Abyei since the first case was confirmed in May, 2020.

Nyanwut Miyen Kuol, added that there are 27 Coronavirus suspects. The health official urges the public to take necessary preventive measures in order to curb the spread of the pandemic.

Social distancing, hand washing and wearing are some of the effective ways to reduce the transmission of the Coronavirus.

Last week, health authorities announced that a child died of the Coronavirus in Abyei Area. Two suspects of COVID—19 also died before the results of their tests were released.

With these new infections, the number of confirmed Coronavirus cases in the area has risen to thirty-four (34). As of Monday, South Sudan has 2098 confirmed cases of the Coronavirus including 40 deaths.
