The outbreak of Coronavirus has affected the normal supply of goods from Sudan to Abyei Administrative Area. The head of Chamber of Commerce in Agok told Abyei FM on Wednesday that the quantity of goods entering Aniet market has declined following the closure of Sudan’s borders.

According to Bagat Kur, the commodities being sold in the area are being smuggled. The fall in supplies of goods has led to increase in prices. The price of a 50-kilogram bag of sugar has increased from 12,000 to 15,000 South Sudanese Pounds in Aniet market. Most of the commodities sold in Abyei’s markets are imported from Sudan.
