Pastoralists demand three seats in Abyei Legislative Council

A union of pastoralists in Abyei Administrative Area are asking the newly appointed chief administrator of Area to set aside three seats in Abyei Legislative Council (ALC) for pastoralists.

Dier Nyok Pajuol, Chairperson of pastoralists says they have not been represented in the previous administrations. He added that pastoralists are section of civil society groups in the area.

There are about 27 seats in Abyei Legislative Council but there are suggestions that the incoming leadership is considering increasing the number of executives.

The new Chief Administrator of Abyei Administrative Area, Kuol Diem Kuol is expected to arrive in the area from Juba next week.
