Abyei Lawyers Network has appealed to Kuol Deim Kuol, the Chief Administrator of Abyei Administrative Area to be transparent in handling public funds. This came during a meeting held in Abyei Coordination Office in Juba on Monday.
The Information Secretary of the network, Luar Nyok Deng, said they discussed a policy paper presented by the chief administrator.
“We discussed many things. In our view as Abyei Lawyers Network, community peace within Abyei especially among youths and the community. Also, the network urges the new chief administrator to practice transparency in things concerning revenue from Amiet market.”
Luar added that they also talked about fairness in giving employment opportunities in Abyei Area. He mentioned the new leader of Abyei promised to cooperate with all different groups in the society.
Kuol Deim Kuol is a non-active Lieutenant general in South Sudan People’s Defense Force (SSPDF).
According to Corruption Perception Index (CPI) 2018 South Sudan is 179th least corrupt country among 180 others.
