Deng Alor appointed minister for East African Affairs

South Sudan President Salva Kiir has named Deng Alor Kuol as minister for East African Affairs. Kuol, the leader of SPLM-Former Detainees, is filling a position left vacant following the death of John Luk Jok in June this year. The politician served as foreign affairs minister in the previous government of South Sudan, from 2016 to 2018.

Kiir also issued another presidential decree appointing Denay Chagor Jock as governor of Jonglei state. Jock, a leading member of South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA) was the minister of higher education in the unity government. Gabriel Changson Chang, another member of South Sudan Opposition Alliance was appointed to his position.
