More than 20 herds of cattle raided in Abyei

Twenty-five herds of cattle were stolen in Awol-nom village located south of Abyei town on Tuesday. The Acting commissioner of Alal County in Abyei Administrative Area, told Abyei FM. He says armed men took away the livestock at three in the morning. The raiders are unknown.

On his part, Moris Mayol, head of community police in Abyei town, says community police members are pursuing the raiders. The policeman urged civilians to cooperate with local authorities by communicating such incidents on time. Mayol says they received the information about the raiding “very late.”

Cattle rustling is common in Abyei Administrative Area. In June, more than two hundred herds of cattle were taken in Kol-bol and Minyang villages in Abyei Administrative Area.
