Chamber of commerce to supply Abyei’s markets with sorghum

Abyei Administrative Area and Chamber of Commerce have agreed on the supply of sorghum to all markets in the area. The deal was reached in a meeting held in chief administrator’s office in Abyei Town on Tuesday. The head of Chamber of Commerce in Abyei, says a committee of seven traders has been formed.

“We in the meeting discussed the problem of hunger in the area and we got a response from the chief administrator, Kuol Deim Kuol. And the administration said if we get some bags of sorghum, it will pay the amount. And we as the chamber of commerce commend the step. And we are in communication with delegates and a committee of seven has been formed to purchase the sorghum” Chol said.

Chol Deng Chol says, they are buying 1000 bags of sorghum. He confirmed that they already have 200 bags in the store and the distribution all the markets will start on Friday. Chol says the commodities will be sold to the locals at a price lower than the current one.

Last week, traders in Abathok market reported scarcity of sorghum.
