
The COVID-19 high level task force in Abyei Administrative Area, has given another week for clubs where people watch sports activities to remain opened.
Nyanwut Mayen Kuol, the acting head of health administration and the secretary of COVID-19 task force spoke to Abyei FM on Friday. Nyanwut says the decision was made in a meeting attended by commissioners on Thursday.
Last week, the body allowed the clubs to reopen for a week which elapsed early this week. The committee told club owners to ensure that COVID-19 preventive measures were observed.
The business owners had complained of worsening living condition due to closure of their business places. Clubs, schools, and churches were closed in March, over fears of the coronavirus.
Health authorities have recorded 52 cases of COVID-19 including death. The virus is transmitted through droplets from the nose or mouth of an infected person.
Keeping social distancing of at least one meter, hand washing with soap and water are of the recommended ways to curb its spread.
