NAS claims responsibility for killing vice president Dr. Igga’s bodyguards

National Salvation Front (NAS),  a rebel group has claimed the responsibility for a road ambush in which 6 bodyguards of the Vice President of South Sudan, Dr. James Wani Igga were killed and two other soldiers wounded on Wednesday this week.

The vehicle in which the soldiers were was attacked in Lobonok near Juba in Central Equatoria State on Wednesday, according to Kalisto Lado, press secretary in the office of Dr. Igga.

In a statement seen by Abyei FM, NAS leadership stated it open fire at the vehicle because they believed the soldiers were going to get information about their position.

NAS, an opposition led by Gen. Thomas Cirilo Swaka declined to sign the revitalized peace agreement with South Sudan’s government.
