The repair of the road between Abyei Town and Agok has begun. The Director of Survey in the Administration of Physical Infrastructure and Public Utilities, Chol Ngolueth Buk told Abyei FM on Thursday.
Ngolueth says the work is being done by the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei. The repair started near UNISFA’S base in Abyei Town on Wednesday.
Ngolueth indicated that the UN mission is repairing the most damaged part of the road so that movement between the two towns will not stop. Potholes on the road are being refilled with soil. He says upgrading the road with murram will take place after rainy season.
Bad road affects delivery of services and goods in Abyei. Drivers on Tuesday said they could transport plenty of goods from Amiet market to Agok due to fear of getting stuck on the muddy road.Traders in Aniet market give it as the reason for soaring prices of goods.
Last week, Abyei administration launched the repair of the road connecting the area to Warrap state.
