Ameth-beek hospital receives medical equipment

 Abyei health authorities have received medical equipment for Ameth-Beek hospital in Abyei town. The acting Director-General of health administration in the area, Kon Thon Mayen told Abyei FM that the items include stretchers, beds and wheelchairs. 

The International Organization for Migration, IOM donated the equipment to the hospital, it renovated a few months ago.

The health official thanked IOM for the assistance saying, they are planning to open the facility in September, 2020.

Ameth-Beek has never been in use since its construction with funding from support for unity project before independence of South Sudan in 2011. When opened, Abyei Administrative Area will have three hospitals, others are Abyei hospital in Abyei town and MSF hospital in Agok. 

In adequate number of health facilities  limits access to health service  in the area.

 In July, residents of Athony village, South of Abyei town said they walk long distance to seek treatment in Malual Aleu, the nearest health center.
