Women in Abyei Administrative Area launched a celebration for the 16 days of activism to end violence against women and girls on Tuesday last t week.
The deputy chairperson of Women Association said the celebration did not take place on 25th because arrangements were not complete.
Amal Abdallah said their activities will begin this year with awareness about HIV/AIDS at schools. She said they would also conduct a workshop on GBV in which women and local chiefs will participate.
The women leader said they will join the International Organization for Migration on the closing day of the campaign. 16 days of activism is a United Nations global campaign initiated in 1991 aiming to end violence against women and girls.
