The Sudan People’s Liberation Movement in Opposition has agreed to form state governments and county administrations according to Eye Radio. Another thing agreed also by the opposition is the formation of the national parliament.
The main opposition body led by Dr. Riek Machar revealed this during the party’s top leadership meeting in Juba on Saturday.
Eye Radio quoted Pout Kang Chol, SPLM – IO’s member as saying the list of nominees is ready to be submitted to the governors for the appointment.According to him, the formation is agreed to take place in the 9 states with exception of Upper Nile State.
The formation of state governments and county administrations have delayed over Machar’s insistence to appoint Johnson Olony.
A move which president Kiir rejected saying Johnson Olony is a violence personality who cannot lead Upper Nile State.
Recently, Kiir asked Machar to sign a letter of undertaking to bear the responsibility should Olony turn violent when appointed. However, the SPLM-IO rejected the idea, saying it is contrary to the provisions of the peace agreement.
