
A delegation from South Sudan Football Association arrived in Abyei Administration on Saturday.
The chairman of Abyei Football Association says committee came to resolve football association issues. Later, another delegation will be sent from Juba to hold elections for local football association.
The Secretary of Abyei Football Association, Diany Deng Agok says three member-team will do its task within seven days.
“The first committee is coming to prepare a ground for elections because elections will be on 20th or 21st. Because of this they will sit with the council of administration considering them as part of the problem,” said Diany.
He said another delegation to conduct elections for Abyei Football Association is expected on Saturday this week. The date to conduct the polls is yet to be fixed.
Mr. Chol Changath is the chairman of Abyei Football Association. He says they are yet to write South Sudan Football Association about the conduct of the elections.
The football association was formed in 2016.The 4-year-term of the leadership ended in June last year, but fresh elections were not conducted due to Covid-19 pandemic.
The head of the committee, Advocate Thiong John said they are ready to solve the issues affecting the association to pave a way for elections. He added that it is important to settle the disputes very soon so Abyei Football Association can take part in the upcoming South Sudan Football Cup tournament.
