
South Sudanese-owned companies including Achai Wiir and Salaama have donated a new bus and some sports items to Abyei Football Association.
The 30-passenger capacity Rosa bus is valued at 20,000 USD will be handed over to football association in late January. Alor Awet, President of Salaama group of companies told Abyei FM that the donation is a fulfillment of a promise he had made before to the local football body.
“I did all the processes with South Sudan Football Association, they want to give me a letter so I can go to Nimule because the vehicle is in Nimule and wants to be brought to Juba,” said Alor.
“Immediately it will be driven to Abyei so, it is handed over to the Abyei (Football) Association.”
The items given alongside the bus are hundred football and nine sets of football uniforms. Last year, the same company out sports clothes to football teams in the area but were not enough. The newly donated uniforms will be distributed to football clubs that missed last year’s.
Diany Deng Agok, Secretary General of Abyei Football Association thanked the donor, saying the bus will solve transport problem. Some people who spoke to Abyei FM welcomed the donation, saying it will ease the movement of players.
