Fire outbreak killed a woman and destroyed 26 shops in Warrap State’s capital Kuajok on Friday.

The department of fire safety in Kuajok town says a 40-year-old woman was caught up by fire while sleeping in a makeshift shop at 11 PM. It says the fire incident occurred in an alcohol-selling market, destroying all tools and ingredients for brewing alcohol.

Mr. Kondok Madut Alol says preliminary investigation conducted showed the fire was allegedly started by couple who were having family dispute.

“A woman was having a dispute with her husband and so they have now been detained because they are the suspects and legal procedures are still going on. They are suspected because one of them promised to set their shop on fire but unfortunately it spread to the rest of the shops. That is why they are now detained,” said Kondok.

Kondok disclosed that 4 suspects in connection to this incident have been detained for questioning.

On the same day, 2 shops were burned following fuel jerry explosion in Jenajom-a separate market in Kuajok.
