President Kiir fires, appoints senior officials

South Sudanese President-Salva Kiir Mayardit

The President of South Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayardit has made some changes in his office and the security sector, through republican decrees read on SSBC on Saturday. 

Kiir removed  Presidential Affairs Minister Hon. Nhial Deng Nhial and appointed  Dr. Barnaba Marial Benjamin to this position .

He also relieved the Chief of General Staff General Johnson Juma Okot and assigned him as grade one ambassador to Belgium.

Kiir promoted SSPDF Commander of Ground Forces, General Santino Deng Wol to the rank of First Lieutenant General and appointed him as Chief of General Staff.

The president further relieved the Deputy Minister of Defense and Veterans Affairs, General Malek Reuben Riak, and assigned him as grade one ambassador to Eritrea.  General Chol Thon Balok is the new Deputy Minister of Defense and Veterans Affairs.

The Director-General of Intelligence Bureau General Thomas Duoth has also been removed and appointed as grade one ambassador to Kuwait.  Major General Simon Yien Makuac was appointed to his place. 

 Director of National Security Service Akol Khor Kuc was promoted to the rank of First Lieutenant General and maintained in his position.
