Abyei Lawyers’ Network for Final Status has strongly condemned Donguop incident in which 11 people were brutally killed on May 16th 2021.

In a press release seen by Abyei FM, the network demanded the international community to put pressure on Sudan to respect UN Security Council’s resolutions and agreements.

It requested withdrawal of Sudan Armed Force based in Kec/Diffra and what they called ‘incapable UN forces’ in the region.

The network’s Chairperson, Advocate Monyluak Alor denied that they intend to cause a vacuum in the area.

“Withdrawal of UN troops was stated as the last resort in the agreement. If UNISFA does not correct its mistakes and grant people’s safety, then its existence and withdrawal are the same.  We do not say this for irresponsibility to cause a vacuum which is not in the interest of anyone. We want UNISFA to review itself and double efforts. The UN must act with the AU to provide better safety measures.” said Alor.

Alor urged Abyei’s people to be patient till a final solution is reached.
