Seeds distribution begins south of Kiir river

Several farmers in Wunpeth village have received seeds of sorghum and vegetables on Tuesday.

Seeds, cultivation tools and fishing nets were delivered by the administration of agriculture in Abyei with support from the UN Food and Agriculture Organization, FAO.

Official in the administration said they gave okra seeds to over 1000 farmers, sorghum seeds to 3000 farmers and fishing nets to about 700 fishermen.

Morwel Deng Malual a farmer in Wunpeth expressed happiness for getting seeds which he said would make his season successful.

“I got seeds and intend to sow them for I didn’t have seeds for cultivation. The distribution is good, it will help needy people. For me I think these seeds will help us. If I cultivate them this year and get good harvest, I will not ask for assistance next year. I’m very happy for this assistance.”  

Agriculture Administration says that seeds distribution will continue for two weeks to cover four counties in Abyei administrative area.
