Members of the Abyei Legislative Council visited the cattle keepers in Leu village in Abyei Administrative Area.
Hon. Majak Matet Ayom, a member of the Legislative Council, says the visit aims to dispel the rumors that the pastoralists from Twic County are being harassed in Leu, and that the authorities in Mijak county have prevented them from going with their cattle.
Mr. Deng Malual, a cattle keeper from Twic county says they have not encountered any problems from the local population since armed youths said to be from Twic County of Warrap attacked Agok in Abyei Administrative Area killing more than 20 people.
He added that they are living peacefully in the village, but he says now he intends to return his cattle to their area because children are going back to school soon.
For his part, the caretaker commissioner of Mijak county, Chol Adhuol said that they will provide protection to the herders to ensure they reach their areas without facing any difficulties.
The village of Leu has about twelve thousand herds of cattle which belong to Ngok Dinka and Twic pastoralists.
