Stranded South Sudanese citizens in Langar arrive in Abyei Town

Forty-five South Sudanese, including seven men, women and children who were stranded in langar since August 13th, 2022, have arrived in Abyei Town on Wednesday 17th August 2022. This is according to a WhatsApp message from the area chief administrator seen by Abyei FM.

The operation that led to protection and safe escort of the passengers was facilitated by UNISFA troops. Arrivals were received by deputy chief administrator, Abyei Town mayor and commissioner of Ameth Aguok county.

The message said that those South Sudanese were stranded due to a threat posed by some elements from Ajaira Misseriya.

According to the message, Misseriya want to revenge for killing of 6 people and wounding of two others by unknown gunmen on 12th August 2022.

The Chief Administrator, Hon. Kuol Deim Kuol thanked UNISFA for protecting the passengers and escorting them safely to Abyei Town.
