
The health department in the Abyei administration and the Ghanaian Battalion of the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei, UNISFA are launching a breast cancer campaign soon.
The campaign which will kick off next October will focus on the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer and other women’s diseases.
The head of the health department spoke to Abyei FM on Tuesday 26 September 2023. Hon. Deng Arop Mading said the campaign aims at collection of cancer data and provision of treatment in the period of two weeks.
Abyei Town, Awolnhom, and Abathok will be stations for the exercise. The health official is urging girls and women to get ready for screening of breast cancer for a healthy life.
Breast cancer is cancer that forms in the cells of the breasts. After skin cancer, breast cancer is the most common cancer diagnosed in women in the United States.
Breast cancer can occur in both men and women, but it’s far more common in women. It can be treated through chemicals, drugs or preventive surgery.
