Misseriya Al Ajaira youth and their Ngok Dinka counterparts have called for a peaceful resolution and easing of the security tensions occurring between the two communities through dialogue and appealed to the chief and traditional leaders to organize an urgent conference to discuss the freedom of movement of citizens.
This came during the “Peace and Reconciliation Dialogue” program broadcast on Abyei FM on Friday 3rd May 2024. The views of Ngok Dinka youth differed on freedom of movement between the two sides, with some calling for urgent additional measures to protect civilians and farmers this month of May.
For his part, the Head of the Department of Information, Culture, Youth and Sports and the Spokesperson of the Abyei Special Administrative Area government Hon. Bulis Koch, urged young people to work for peace and reject tribalism and hatred.
Hon. Koch called on the youth to work for peace, unity and strengthening social cohesion, noting that youth are the backbone of any society. He called on the youth to stay away from politicians.
The Ngok Dinka and the Misseriya Al Ajaira communities called for the need to adopt peaceful methods in order to resolve security challenges facing the region to promote peace and peaceful coexistence between the two communities. For more details Listen to today’s episode of the Umbrella program.
