A high-level security delegation led by South Sudan People’s Defense Forces (SSPDF) Chief of Defense Forces Lt. General Santino Deng Wol has arrived in Agok area in Rumamer county to assess security situation in the area.
The delegation includes the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Gen. Atem Marol Biar, the Director General of Internal Security Bureau (ISB) of the National Security, Lt. General Akol Koor, and other senior military officers from the national army.
Chief Administrator of Abyei Special Administrative Area, H.E Dr. Chol Deng Alak, said in a statement to Abyei FM on Monday, that the visit of senior security officers from the army, security and police to the area aims at implementation of the orders of the President of the Republic, H.E Salva Kiir Mayardit to end the conflict between the Ngok and Twic communities. Dr. Alak said that the delegation visited Twic County headquarters in Turalei and met with the local authorities as well as the traditional leaders. He added that the delegation’s visit will take three days.
Last January, President Salva Kiir Mayardit issued presidential orders to deploy forces along the border between the Abyei Administrative Area and Twic County to prevent attacks between the two parties in order to end the conflict between the Ngok and Twic communities that has already taken more than two years.
